Ingredients
Scale
Blueberry Juice
- 16 ounces frozen blueberries (or 2 cups fresh blueberries or blueberry juice)
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup organic raw sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (from about 1 lemon, reserved from the total lemon juice)
Lemon Tea
- 6 cups green tea (or black tea as a substitute)
- 6 tea bags or 6 teaspoons loose tea leaves
- ½ cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed (about 4 lemons, including the 1 tablespoon reserved for blueberry juice step)
Instructions
- Make the blueberry juice: In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries, water, raw sugar, and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Use a potato masher or immersion blender to crush the blueberries and release their juice. Strain the mixture through a sieve, reserving the juice and discarding the pulp. Allow the juice to cool completely.
- Make the lemon tea: Boil water and pour over the tea bags or loose tea leaves. For green tea, cool the water to 170-180°F and steep for 3 minutes; for black tea, use boiling water and steep for 5-7 minutes. After steeping, strain out the tea leaves and allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
- Combine and serve: In a large pitcher, mix the cooled blueberry juice, brewed tea, and the remaining freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add ice if desired or refrigerate until chilled. Serve cold and enjoy your antioxidant-rich blueberry-lemon green tea.
Notes
- For a sweeter or less sweet drink, adjust the amount of raw sugar according to taste.
- You can substitute black tea for green tea if preferred, adjusting the steeping time as noted.
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice is recommended for the best flavor and antioxidant benefits.
- The blueberry pulp can be used in smoothies or desserts instead of discarding it.
- Refrigerate any leftovers and consume within 2-3 days for optimal freshness.
