Scale
Jam Ingredients
- 2 pounds ripe apricots, pitted and halved
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup chopped almonds
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 packet (1.75 ounces) powdered fruit pectin
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, add the pitted and halved apricots, sugar, chopped almonds, ground cinnamon, and powdered fruit pectin. Stir the ingredients together to start the mixing process.
- Bring to Boil: Place the saucepan over high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil, stirring constantly to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
- Simmer the Jam: Reduce the heat to medium and continue to simmer the mixture for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to allow the flavors to meld and the jam to thicken properly.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the jam cool slightly before serving. This helps the jam set and improves the texture for spreading.
Notes
- Make sure to pit and halve the apricots for even cooking and a smooth consistency.
- Stirring constantly during boiling prevents the jam from burning on the bottom of the pan.
- The powder pectin helps the jam set quickly and creates a nice gel texture without extra equipment.
- Store any leftovers in sterilized jars in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
