Description

This refreshing Blackberry Lemonade recipe combines the tartness of fresh lemons with the sweet juiciness of ripe blackberries for a vibrant, summery drink. Perfect for hot days, this homemade lemonade is naturally sweetened and can be easily customized with sparkling water for a fizzy twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1½ cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices and extra blackberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend Blackberries: In a blender, combine the blackberries and ½ cup of water. Blend until smooth to release the juice and flavors.
  2. Strain Mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing gently to extract as much juice as possible while removing the seeds.
  3. Add Lemon Juice and Sugar: Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice and granulated sugar into the blackberry juice until the sugar is fully dissolved, creating a balanced sweet and tart base.
  4. Pour Remaining Water: Add the remaining 3½ cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir thoroughly to combine all the ingredients evenly.
  5. Taste and Adjust: Sample the lemonade and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired. Stir well to incorporate.
  6. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the lemonade until well chilled. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices and extra blackberries for an elegant presentation.

Notes

  • For a sparkling twist, substitute 1–2 cups of the water with sparkling water just before serving.
  • You can substitute honey or agave syrup for the granulated sugar as a natural sweetener alternative.
