Description

A refreshing homemade Blueberry Iced Tea combining the natural sweetness of fresh blueberries with the bold flavor of black tea, balanced by tart lemon juice and a hint of mint. Perfect for a cool, revitalizing summer beverage that’s easy to prepare in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 black tea bags
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

Fruits and Flavorings

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Blueberries: Rinse 1 cup of fresh blueberries thoroughly under cool running water to remove any dirt or residue, then pat them dry gently with a clean towel.
  2. Brew Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and steep 3 black tea bags in the hot water for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse fully.
  3. Sweeten Tea: While the tea is still warm, stir in 1/2 cup of granulated sugar until completely dissolved. Taste and adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
  4. Add Blueberries and Lemon: Add the prepared blueberries and 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice into the warm tea mixture. Let this sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together and blueberries to release their sweetness.
  5. Chill Tea: Fill a large pitcher with ice cubes and pour the blueberry tea mixture over the ice. Stir gently to cool the tea rapidly without crushing the berries.
  6. Serve: Pour the chilled blueberry iced tea into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a few floating blueberries for an attractive presentation and added freshness.

Notes

  • Adjust sugar quantity for a less sweet or more robust flavor.
  • For a stronger blueberry flavor, lightly muddle some blueberries before adding to the tea.
  • Use loose leaf black tea for a richer taste if preferred.
  • Mint leaves are optional but add refreshing aroma and taste.
  • This tea is best served immediately but can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
