Description
A quick and elegant appetizer featuring toasted baguette slices topped with fresh cherry tomatoes, aromatic basil, creamy burrata cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a perfect balance of flavors and textures.
Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 1 baguette, sliced into 1-inch rounds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
Toppings
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
- 8 oz burrata cheese, torn into pieces
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, torn
- 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), ensuring it reaches the right temperature for toasting the bread evenly.
- Prepare the baguette slices: Arrange the sliced baguette rounds on a baking sheet. Brush both sides of each slice with olive oil to create a golden, crispy texture when toasted.
- Toast the bread: Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the baguette slices for 8-10 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy on the edges.
- Make the tomato topping: While the bread toasts, combine the halved cherry tomatoes, torn fresh basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Toss gently to mix the flavors without crushing the tomatoes.
- Cool the crostini: Remove the toasted baguette slices from the oven and let them cool slightly so they are easy to handle and won’t melt the cheese immediately.
- Assemble the bruschetta: Spoon a generous amount of the tomato and basil mixture onto each baguette slice, creating a fresh and flavorful base.
- Add the burrata cheese: Place a torn piece of creamy burrata cheese on top of each tomato-topped crostini, distributing it evenly for rich texture and flavor.
- Finish and serve: Drizzle each bruschetta with balsamic glaze, if desired, to add a sweet tangy note, and serve immediately to enjoy the contrast of warm, crispy bread and cool, creamy toppings.
Notes
- Use fresh, ripe cherry tomatoes for the best flavor.
- Burrata can be replaced with fresh mozzarella in a pinch, but burrata offers a creamier texture.
- Balsamic glaze adds sweetness and acidity, but you can omit it or substitute with a balsamic vinegar reduction.
- The baguette slices can be toasted on a grill or pan if an oven is not available.
- This appetizer is best served immediately to maintain crispness of the bread.
