Ingredients
Scale
Biscuits
- 1 (15.66-oz) box frozen Cheddar Bay Biscuits (baked according to package directions)
Meat
- 1 lb sausage
Dairy
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
Seasoning
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Chop Biscuits: Take the baked Cheddar Bay Biscuits and chop each one into 6 to 8 pieces. Spread the chopped biscuits evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage until it is fully browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Layer Sausage and Cheese: Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly over the chopped biscuits in the baking dish. Then, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the sausage layer.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well blended and slightly frothy.
- Assemble and Bake: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the biscuit, sausage, and cheese layers. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the eggs are fully set and the casserole is golden and bubbly on top.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add some red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños to the sausage while cooking.
- You can swap the sausage for cooked bacon or ham if preferred.
- Allow the casserole to rest for 5-10 minutes after baking to make slicing easier.
- Make this casserole a day ahead by assembling it and refrigerating overnight before baking.
- Use low-fat milk or milk alternatives to reduce calories if desired.
- Frozen Cheddar Bay Biscuits must be baked first according to package instructions before chopping and layering.
