Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- Flour for dusting
Filling
- 1 cup cooked shredded or diced chicken
- 1/2 cup alfredo sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
For brushing
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and divide the pizza dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a 6–7 inch circle.
- Make the Filling: In a bowl, combine the cooked chicken, alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning thoroughly.
- Assemble the Calzones: Spoon the filling mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edge. Fold the dough over the filling to enclose it and press the edges together, sealing tightly using a fork.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- Brush the Calzones: Lightly brush the tops of each calzone with olive oil or melted butter to achieve a golden, crispy crust.
- Cook the Calzones: Place 2 calzones at a time in the air fryer basket (depending on size). Cook for 8–10 minutes until the calzones are golden brown and cooked through.
- Repeat and Serve: Repeat cooking with the remaining calzones. Allow the calzones to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can use rotisserie chicken for convenience and enhanced flavor.
- Add spinach or sautéed mushrooms to the filling for extra flavor and texture.
- Serve with extra alfredo sauce or marinara sauce for dipping.
