Description

Chicken Alfredo Sloppy Joes combine tender ground chicken cooked in a creamy Alfredo sauce with Italian seasoning, all nestled in toasted Sloppy Joe buns. This comforting and flavorful twist on the classic sloppy joe makes for an easy and delicious meal perfect for weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 1 pound ground chicken

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 jar (15 ounces) Alfredo sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Buns

  • 4 Sloppy Joe buns, split and toasted

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and ground chicken. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink, about 10-12 minutes. Break up the chicken into small pieces as it cooks. Once done, transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Alfredo Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low in the same skillet. Add the butter and minced garlic, cooking for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and Alfredo sauce, stirring until smooth. Mix in the Italian seasoning.
  3. Add Chicken and Seasonings: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Stir to coat thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper to taste and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  4. Toast the Buns: While the chicken mixture is heating, slice and toast the Sloppy Joe buns either in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon a generous amount of the chicken Alfredo mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the top half of the bun on top, pressing lightly to hold together.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Chicken Alfredo Sloppy Joes immediately while warm. They pair well with fries, potato wedges, or a fresh green salad.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey if preferred.
  • For a lighter option, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Feel free to add shredded mozzarella or Parmesan on top for extra cheesy flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
