Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups sour cream (light sour cream can be used)
- 1 packet (about 1 ounce) dry onion soup mix
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (or 1 teaspoon dried chives)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: chopped green onions or additional fresh herbs for garnish
Instructions
- Combine cream cheese and sour cream: In a mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and sour cream together until the mixture is smooth and creamy, ensuring no lumps remain.
- Add seasonings and herbs: Stir in the dry onion soup mix, chopped fresh parsley, chopped fresh chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to distribute the flavors evenly throughout the dip.
- Chill the dip: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour. This resting time allows the flavors to meld and the dip to thicken.
- Serve: Before serving, give the dip a good stir. Garnish with chopped green onions or additional fresh herbs if desired, then serve chilled with your choice of chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
- Soften the cream cheese beforehand by leaving it at room temperature for about 30 minutes for easier mixing.
- For a lighter dip, use light or reduced-fat sour cream.
- You can substitute fresh herbs with dried ones if fresh are unavailable, but adjust quantities as dried herbs are more concentrated.
- Adjust salt and pepper according to taste; the dry onion soup mix may already contain salt.
- The dip can be made up to 24 hours ahead for better flavor infusion.
