Description

A rich and flavorful Creamy Smoked Sausage Pasta recipe combining smoky kielbasa with a luscious tomato cream sauce, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasonings. Ready in just 30 minutes, this comforting dish is perfect for a hearty weeknight meal that’s both easy and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale

Sausage and Cheese

  • 12 oz package of Kielbasa
  • 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Additional Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)

Pasta

  • 16 oz box of pasta

Sauce

  • 2 TBSP of butter
  • 2 TBSP of minced garlic
  • 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
  • 2 8 oz cans of tomato sauce
  • 3 TBSP of tomato paste
  • 1 tsp of Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper

Garnish

  • Dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Cook the pasta according to the directions on the package until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown Kielbasa: Slice the kielbasa and brown it in a pan over medium heat until it develops a nice color. Remove the kielbasa from the pan and set aside.
  3. Prepare Sauce: In the same pan, add butter and minced garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant. Pour in the heavy whipping cream, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Stir in the shredded Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and let the sauce simmer on medium heat for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the simmering sauce and toss until well coated. Return the browned kielbasa to the pan, mixing everything gently to combine evenly.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Plate the pasta with sausage and sauce, then top with extra Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of dried parsley for added flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • You can use any type of pasta such as penne, rotini, or spaghetti.
  • Adjust the seasoning to taste, especially salt and pepper.
  • Use low-fat cream if looking to reduce calories but note this will alter the richness.
  • For extra spice, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently on stovetop or microwave, adding a splash of cream or water if needed.
