Ingredients
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cups shredded wheat cereal
- 1 cup pastel candy eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Add Vanilla Extract and Cereal: Stir in the vanilla extract, then gently fold in the shredded wheat cereal until all the cereal is evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.
- Shape Nests: Spoon small clusters of the coated cereal mixture onto parchment paper, then gently press an indentation in the center of each cluster to form a nest shape.
- Add Candy Eggs: While the nests are still warm and pliable, place 2 to 3 pastel candy eggs into the indentation of each nest.
- Cool and Set: Allow the nests to cool completely at room temperature until the chocolate is set and firm, then serve and enjoy your Easter treats.
Notes
- Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
- For a gluten-free version, ensure to use gluten-free shredded wheat cereal or substitute with gluten-free cereal alternatives.
- You can use white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet for a different flavor profile.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- These nests do not require baking, making them a quick and fun treat for kids.
