Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Mixture
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips (180g)
- ½ cup butterscotch chips (90g)
- 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (40g)
Additional Ingredients
- 2½ cups chow mein noodles (150g)
- 36 candy eggs (such as mini chocolate eggs)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chocolate Mixture: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the milk chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and creamy peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth with no lumps.
- Fold in Chow Mein Noodles: Gently fold the chow mein noodles into the melted chocolate mixture until they are thoroughly and evenly coated, ensuring every noodle is covered but left crunchy.
- Shape the Nests: Spoon the coated noodle mixture into muffin tins or onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Shape each portion into nest-like mounds by creating a small depression in the center for the eggs.
- Add Candy Eggs: While the mixture is still soft and malleable, place 3 candy eggs on top of each nest gently pressing them in to set.
- Chill to Set: Place the nests in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or until they are firmly set and hold their shape.
- Serve: Once the nests are completely set, carefully remove them from the muffin tins or baking sheet and arrange on a serving platter. Serve immediately or keep refrigerated until ready to enjoy.
Notes
- Use a large microwave-safe bowl to prevent spills when melting the chocolate and peanut butter.
- Stirring well between microwave intervals ensures even melting and prevents burning.
- Chow mein noodles provide a light, crispy texture—handle gently to avoid crushing them.
- If candy eggs aren’t available, jelly beans or mini marshmallows make good substitutes.
- Store the nests in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter or omit entirely and increase chocolate chips slightly.
