Description

This Easter Dirt Cake is a delightful no-bake dessert perfect for spring celebrations. Combining crushed Golden Oreos, creamy vanilla pudding, and festive Easter candies, it creates a fun and delicious treat that looks like a vibrant garden of sweets. Easy to assemble and chill, it’s ideal for family gatherings or holiday parties.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookies

  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Golden Oreos or vanilla sandwich cookies

Filling

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

Decoration

  • Easter candies (chocolate eggs, bunny gummies, Peeps, etc.)
  • Green-tinted shredded coconut (optional for “grass”)

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Crush the Oreos in a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and smashing with a rolling pin until fine crumbs form. Set aside.
  2. Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and softened butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and mix until the mixture is fluffy.
  3. Make Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Fold the thickened pudding into the cream cheese mixture, then gently fold in the whipped topping until fully combined and smooth.
  5. Assemble Layers: In a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl, spread half of the crushed Oreos evenly on the bottom. Layer the cream filling mixture evenly over the cookies. Top with the remaining crushed Oreos.
  6. Decorate: Sprinkle green-tinted shredded coconut over the top to create a grassy effect. Decorate with assorted Easter candies to resemble a festive spring garden.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 2 hours to allow it to set and flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

  • For individual servings, layer the dirt cake in clear cups or mason jars for a fun presentation.
  • Use chocolate Oreos and chocolate pudding for a richer, darker “dirt” version.
  • Ensure the cream cheese and butter are softened for easier mixing and a smoother texture.
  • Substitute coconut with green food coloring and shredded coconut for a more vibrant grass effect.
