Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 1 package spinach pasta (or regular pasta with green food coloring)
- 10-20 drops green food coloring (optional, if using regular pasta)
- 1/4 cup butter
Toppings
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese, cut into large circles
- 1 (6 oz) jar pitted black olives, halved
- 1 medium cucumber, sliced (for Frankenstein’s bolts)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spinach pasta and cook according to the package instructions. If using regular pasta and you want it green, add 10-20 drops of green food coloring to the boiling water.
- Color the Pasta (If Needed): For a deeper green color, add more green food coloring to the pasta after draining and rinsing it.
- Drain and Butter the Pasta: Drain the cooked pasta and return it to the pot. Stir in the butter until it is melted and evenly coats the pasta.
- Assemble the Frankenstein Face: Arrange the buttered pasta on a large rectangular platter (about 20” x 12”).
- Add the Eyes: Place the mozzarella cheese circles in the center of the pasta to represent Frankenstein’s eyes.
- Detail the Eyes: Place halved black olives on top of the mozzarella circles to complete the eyes. Use additional black olives at the top of the pasta to create Frankenstein’s hair and at the bottom to form his mouth.
- Add Frankenstein’s Bolts: Cut the ends off the cucumber and place the slices on the sides of the pasta to resemble bolts.
- Serve and Enjoy: Let kids customize their Frankenstein pasta if desired, then serve immediately for a festive and fun Halloween meal.
Notes
- You can substitute spinach pasta with any other green-colored pasta or dye regular pasta with green food coloring.
- Adjust the amount of green food coloring to achieve your desired shade of green.
- Additional vegetables or toppings can be added to customize the Frankenstein face.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the butter melted in the pasta at its best.
