Description

Garlic Butter Steak Lightning Noodles are a quick and flavorful Asian-inspired stir-fry dish featuring tender sirloin or flank steak seared to perfection and tossed with noodles in a rich garlic butter sauce. This recipe combines savory soy and oyster sauces with a hint of chili for a perfect balance of flavors, topped with fresh green onions, herbs, and sesame seeds for a satisfying weeknight meal that comes together in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Noodles & Protein

  • 8 oz noodles (ramen, udon, or spaghetti)
  • 1 pound sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

Sauce & Seasonings

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for richness)
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Garnishes

  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley or cilantro (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain thoroughly and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Prepare and sear the steak: Season the thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Sear the steak slices in batches for 1–2 minutes on each side until browned and just cooked through. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  3. Make the garlic butter sauce: Reduce the heat to medium and add the unsalted butter to the same skillet. When melted, stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and chili flakes. Stir well to combine all flavors.
  4. Combine noodles and steak: Toss the cooked noodles into the garlic butter sauce in the skillet. Return the seared steak slices to the pan and toss everything together until the noodles and steak are evenly coated and heated through, about 1 minute.
  5. Garnish and serve: Transfer the garlic butter steak noodles to plates or bowls. Garnish with sliced green onions, chopped parsley or cilantro if desired, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Swap steak for shrimp or tofu to suit different dietary preferences or to vary the protein.
  • For added nutrition and color, stir-fry some bell peppers, snap peas, or other favorite vegetables along with the garlic.
  • Use oyster sauce sparingly if you prefer a less rich sauce or omit it to make the recipe fully vegetarian (if substituting tofu for steak).
  • Adjust chili flakes quantity to control the spice level according to your taste.
