Ingredients
Scale
Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed (or crescent roll dough)
Filling and Topping
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Extra Parmesan and herbs for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Muffin Tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a standard muffin tin to prevent the cruffins from sticking during baking.
- Roll Out Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases and create an even thickness.
- Mix Garlic-Parmesan Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, dried Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, mixing thoroughly.
- Brush Mixture over Pastry: Evenly brush the garlic-Parmesan butter mixture over the entire surface of the rolled-out pastry.
- Roll and Slice Pastry: Starting from the long side, tightly roll the pastry into a log. Then carefully slice the log lengthwise in half to expose the layered interior.
- Form Spirals: With the cut side facing out, roll each half into a spiral shape resembling a cinnamon roll and place each spiral into a greased muffin cup.
- Bake Cruffins: Bake the cruffins for 18–22 minutes until they puff up and turn golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the cruffins to cool in the muffin tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Sprinkle extra Parmesan and herbs on top if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven or air fryer.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the butter mixture for a spicy version.
- Use crescent roll dough as a convenient alternative to puff pastry.
- Serve these as a savory snack or alongside soups and salads for a flavorful accompaniment.
