Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- ¼ cup dried minced onion flakes
- 2 (15-oz) cans Pork & Beans
- 6 Tbsp ketchup
- ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1¼ tsp salt
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 5 slices precooked bacon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat a 2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking and set it aside.
- Cook the ground beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef for about 10 minutes or until it is browned. Use a fork to break the meat into small pieces as it cooks to ensure even browning.
- Combine ingredients: Transfer the cooked beef to a large mixing bowl. Add the dried minced onion flakes, pork & beans, ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.
- Assemble the casserole: Pour the beef and bean mixture into the prepared casserole dish. Arrange the precooked bacon slices evenly on top of the mixture.
- Bake: Cover the casserole dish with a lid or aluminum foil to keep moisture in. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the casserole is thickened and bubbly around the edges.
Notes
- Precooked bacon saves time and adds a crispy texture on top of the casserole.
- Use a fork or wooden spoon to break up the ground beef while cooking for a uniform texture.
- If you prefer spicier flavors, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
- For a gluten-free option, verify that all canned beans and condiments are gluten-free.
