Description

Lasagna Burger is a creative and mouthwatering fusion recipe that combines the classic flavors of Italian lasagna with a juicy grilled beef burger. Featuring layers of lasagna noodles, rich ricotta, melted mozzarella and provolone cheese, savory marinara sauce, and a perfectly seasoned beef patty, this dish delivers an indulgent taste experience that satisfies lovers of both comfort foods. It’s an easy-to-make, hearty main course ideal for lunch or dinner with a unique twist on burgers.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Patty

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Cheese & Sauce

  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce (plus more for topping)
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices provolone or Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese

Assembly

  • 4 lasagna noodles (cooked according to package directions and cut to bun size)
  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix gently until just combined. Form the mixture into 4 even-sized burger patties.
  2. Cook the Patties: Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred level of doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella and a slice of provolone or Parmesan cheese on each patty. Cover to allow the cheese to melt evenly.
  3. Prepare Lasagna Noodles: While the patties cook, boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and cut the noodles to fit the size of your burger buns, shaping into rounds or squares.
  4. Assemble the Lasagna Burger: On the bottom half of each toasted bun, spread a spoonful of ricotta cheese. Layer one piece of lasagna noodle over the ricotta, then add a cheesy burger patty on top. Spoon warm marinara sauce over the patty, then add another lasagna noodle piece. Add more marinara sauce if desired. Garnish with chopped parsley if using, then place the top bun to finish.
  5. Serve: Serve the lasagna burgers hot, ideally with sides such as garlic fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • You can use leftover lasagna noodles or oven-ready noodles, but be sure to boil them first to soften.
  • For added flavor and nutrition, add a spoonful of sautéed garlic spinach or grilled vegetables between the layers.
  • Toasting the burger buns enhances texture and prevents sogginess from the ricotta and marinara sauce.
  • Feel free to substitute provolone with Parmesan for a sharper flavor or use a blend of cheeses based on preference.
