Description

Lemonade Puppy Chow is a sweet, tangy, and colorful no-bake snack mix made with crispy rice cereal coated in melted white chocolate and zesty lemonade drink mix, dusted with powdered sugar for an irresistible summer treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups rice Chex cereal
  • 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or butter
  • 1 packet (0.13 oz) unsweetened lemonade drink mix
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (optional for extra zing)
  • Yellow food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cereal: Place the 6 cups of rice Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  2. Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon coconut oil or butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
  3. Add Color: If desired, stir in a few drops of yellow food coloring to give the chocolate a lemony hue.
  4. Coat the Cereal: Pour the melted white chocolate mixture over the rice Chex cereal. Gently stir to evenly coat all the cereal pieces without breaking them.
  5. Prepare the Coating Mix: In a large resealable plastic bag, combine ¾ cup powdered sugar and 1 packet (0.13 oz) of unsweetened lemonade drink mix.
  6. Shake to Coat: Add the coated cereal to the resealable bag, seal tightly, and shake vigorously until every piece is thoroughly coated with the powdered sugar and lemonade mix.
  7. Add Lemon Zest: If you want extra citrus flavor, stir in 1 tablespoon of lemon zest to the coated puppy chow at this stage.
  8. Cool and Set: Spread the coated cereal out onto a baking sheet in a single layer. Allow it to cool and dry completely before serving or storing to prevent clumping.

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, add a bit more lemonade drink mix or a few drops of fresh lemon juice.
  • Store the puppy chow in an airtight container for up to 1 week to maintain freshness.
  • Perfect for parties, lunchbox treats, or refreshing summer snacks.
