Description

Delight in these sweet and savory Maple Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents, perfect for brunch or a tasty snack. Featuring maple sausage cooked to perfection, creamy whipped cream cheese, and a touch of real maple syrup, all wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough and baked until golden brown.

Ingredients

Scale

Sausage Mixture

  • 1 (16-oz) package maple sausage
  • 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3 Tbsp real maple syrup

Dough

  • 2 (8-oz) cans refrigerated crescent rolls

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC) to ensure it’s ready for baking the crescents.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the maple sausage until it is no longer pink and crumbled thoroughly. Once cooked, drain off any excess fat to avoid greasiness.
  3. Mix Filling: In a bowl, combine the cooked maple sausage, softened cream cheese, and real maple syrup. Mix well until the ingredients are fully blended into a creamy and flavorful filling.
  4. Prepare Dough: Separate the refrigerated crescent rolls into triangles as per the package instructions. Then cut each triangle in half lengthwise to create 32 smaller triangles.
  5. Fill and Roll: Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, place a portion of the sausage mixture onto the wide end of each small crescent triangle. Carefully roll each triangle from the wide end to the tip, sealing in the filling.
  6. Bake: Place the filled crescents on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the crescents are golden brown and cooked through.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Drain excess fat from the sausage to prevent the crescents from becoming greasy.
  • For an extra touch, brush the tops with a little melted butter before baking to enhance browning.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
  • These crescent bites can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking; just increase baking time by a couple of minutes if baking cold.
