Ingredients
Scale
Base
- 2 flour tortillas (8-inch)
Meat and Seasoning
- 1 lb ground beef (or chicken, if preferred)
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning)
- 1/2 cup water (for taco seasoning)
Beans and Cheese
- 1 cup refried beans (optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Vegetables and Toppings
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 cup sour cream (for topping)
- Salsa (for topping)
- Jalapeños (optional, for topping)
- Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
- Season the Meat: Add the taco seasoning packet and 1/2 cup of water to the cooked beef. Stir and simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and the flavors meld together.
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to fully preheat while preparing the pizza layers.
- Prepare Tortilla Base: Place the two flour tortillas on a baking sheet. Spread a layer of refried beans evenly over each tortilla if using. This creates a creamy base for the toppings.
- Add Meat and Vegetables: Evenly distribute the seasoned ground beef over the bean layer. Then sprinkle diced onions, diced tomatoes, sliced black olives, and chopped green onions on top.
- Add Cheese: Generously sprinkle both shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the assembled toppings, covering the pizza surface thoroughly.
- Bake the Pizza: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly and the edges of the tortillas are crisp and golden.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizzas from the oven and top each with sour cream, salsa, jalapeños if desired, and fresh cilantro. Slice and serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground chicken or turkey for a lighter version.
- Refried beans add creaminess but can be omitted if preferred.
- Customize toppings to your preference—add avocado slices or pickled jalapeños for extra flavor.
- Use whole wheat tortillas for a healthier twist.
- For spicier flavor, increase the amount of jalapeños or add hot sauce to salsa.
