Description
A perfect Valentine’s dinner featuring juicy New York strip steaks and succulent shrimp, both grilled to perfection and enhanced with a rich garlic butter and fresh parsley compound butter for an unforgettable, flavorful meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Compound Butter:
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter (softened)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (chopped)
Steak and Shrimp:
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for grilling)
- 2 New York Strip Steaks
- 1 teaspoon Salt (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Pepper (to taste)
- 1 pound Shrimp (deveined)
Instructions
- Preparation: Prepare all ingredients and equipment before starting to ensure smooth cooking.
- Make Garlic Butter: In a bowl, combine softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, and chopped fresh parsley until well mixed. Place the compound butter in the refrigerator to chill while preparing other ingredients.
- Preheat Grill: Heat your grill or grill pan on high heat until very hot for an optimal sear on the steaks.
- Season Steaks: Pat the New York strip steaks dry with paper towels. Lightly brush them with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Grill Steaks: Place the steaks on the hot grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, aiming for medium-rare temperature between 130-135°F. Once cooked, transfer steaks to a plate and spread half of the garlic butter over them. Let rest for 5-10 minutes to retain juices.
- Cook Shrimp: Using the same pan or grill, melt the remaining garlic butter over medium heat. Season the deveined shrimp with salt and pepper, then grill them for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
- Toss Shrimp in Butter: Toss the grilled shrimp in the melted garlic butter from the pan to coat evenly and enhance flavor.
- Serve: Plate the rested steaks alongside the butter-coated shrimp for a delicious, hearty dinner perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.
Notes
- Resting the steak after grilling helps maintain juiciness and tenderness.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure steak reaches the desired medium-rare temperature.
- Deveining shrimp is optional but recommended for better texture and appearance.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, especially salt and pepper, depending on preference.
- If you don’t have a grill, a grill pan or cast-iron skillet can be used on the stovetop for similar results.
