Ingredients
Scale
Milkshake Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
- 1/2 cup canned coconut milk (full-fat for best flavor)
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons cream of coconut (Coco Lopez recommended)
- 1/4 cup ice cubes (adjust for desired thickness)
- 1/4 cup vanilla ice cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
- 1 tablespoon white rum (optional, for an adult version)
Toppings (Optional)
- Whipped cream, for topping
- Maraschino cherries, for garnish
- Pineapple wedge, for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the ingredients: In a blender, add the frozen pineapple chunks, coconut milk, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, ice cubes, and vanilla ice cream if using. For an adult version, add the white rum at this stage.
- Blend until smooth: Secure the blender lid and blend on high speed until the mixture becomes completely smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides if needed to ensure even blending. The texture should be thick but pourable; adjust with extra pineapple juice or coconut milk if too thick, or add more ice cubes if too thin.
- Taste and adjust: Sample the milkshake and modify the sweetness or flavor as desired by adding more cream of coconut for sweetness, more pineapple juice for enhanced pineapple flavor, or more coconut milk for a stronger coconut taste. Blend again after each adjustment for consistency.
- Prepare your glasses: Chill your favorite milkshake glasses in the freezer for a few minutes to keep the drink cold when served.
- Pour the milkshake: Carefully pour the pina colada milkshake into the chilled glasses, filling them nearly to the top and leaving space for toppings.
- Add toppings (optional): If desired, top with a generous swirl of whipped cream, garnish with a maraschino cherry, and add a pineapple wedge on the rim for a tropical presentation.
- Serve immediately: Enjoy the pina colada milkshake fresh and cold for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use full-fat canned coconut milk for the creamiest, richest flavor.
- Adjust the amount of ice cubes to achieve your preferred milkshake thickness.
- The vanilla ice cream is optional but adds extra creaminess and sweetness.
- White rum is optional; omit for a kid-friendly version.
- Always serve immediately as the milkshake can separate or melt quickly.
- To keep glasses cold longer, chill them in the freezer before serving.
