Ingredients
Scale
Biscuit Base
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (flaky style works best)
Filling
- 1/2 lb (8 oz) breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or lightly spray a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease and set aside to cool slightly to prevent it from melting the cheese mixture.
- Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika if using, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well mixed.
- Prepare Biscuit Cups: Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Using your hands, flatten each biscuit into a round disc large enough to line the bottom and sides of each muffin cup in the prepared muffin tin.
- Assemble Cups: Gently press each biscuit disc into the muffin tin, forming a cup shape. Spoon the sausage and cheese mixture evenly into each biscuit cup, pressing gently to pack the filling inside.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuit dough is golden brown and cooked through, and the filling is bubbly with a slight browning on top.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and allow the cups to cool slightly before removing from the muffin tin. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Flaky style biscuit dough works best for a tender, buttery crust.
- You can substitute cheddar with your favorite cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for different flavors.
- Make sure to drain the cooked sausage well to avoid greasy filling.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the filling mixture.
- These cups freeze well; reheat in the oven for a quick snack.
