Description

These Sausage-Cheese Ball Biscuit Cups are a savory and satisfying breakfast or snack option featuring flaky biscuit dough filled with a flavorful mixture of cooked breakfast sausage, cheddar cheese, and cream cheese, seasoned with garlic, onion powder, and paprika. Baked until golden and bubbly, these bite-sized cups are perfect for gatherings or quick meals.

Ingredients

Scale

Biscuit Base

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (flaky style works best)

Filling

  • 1/2 lb (8 oz) breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or lightly spray a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease and set aside to cool slightly to prevent it from melting the cheese mixture.
  3. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika if using, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well mixed.
  4. Prepare Biscuit Cups: Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Using your hands, flatten each biscuit into a round disc large enough to line the bottom and sides of each muffin cup in the prepared muffin tin.
  5. Assemble Cups: Gently press each biscuit disc into the muffin tin, forming a cup shape. Spoon the sausage and cheese mixture evenly into each biscuit cup, pressing gently to pack the filling inside.
  6. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuit dough is golden brown and cooked through, and the filling is bubbly with a slight browning on top.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and allow the cups to cool slightly before removing from the muffin tin. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Flaky style biscuit dough works best for a tender, buttery crust.
  • You can substitute cheddar with your favorite cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for different flavors.
  • Make sure to drain the cooked sausage well to avoid greasy filling.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the filling mixture.
  • These cups freeze well; reheat in the oven for a quick snack.
