Ingredients
Scale
Salmon and Seasoning
- 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the salmon after searing.
- Prepare Seasoning Mix: In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt to create the spice blend.
- Season the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels, brush lightly with olive oil on both sides, then evenly sprinkle the seasoning mix over the top of each fillet for full flavor coverage.
- Sear the Salmon: Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add the butter. Once melted and hot, place the salmon fillets skin-side down and sear for 2-3 minutes until the skin is crisp and golden.
- Bake the Salmon: Transfer the skillet directly to the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 8-10 minutes until cooked through and flaky to the touch.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from the oven, drizzle each fillet with fresh lemon juice, and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if using. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate salmon fillets with olive oil and lemon juice before seasoning.
- Adjust cayenne pepper quantity according to your preferred spice level or omit entirely for a milder taste.
- This recipe can be cooked solely on the stovetop if you don’t have an oven-safe skillet; cover and cook until salmon is cooked through.
- Serve alongside roasted vegetables or a fresh garden salad for a balanced meal.
